Intertronics Duster available to meet 2018 F-Gas regulations

Product News Friday, November 3, 2017: INTERTRONICS

Techspray Vortex 360° Renew Duster is an answer for companies facing the restriction on technical aerosols using HFCs with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) greater than 150, which comes into effect on January 1 2018. The EU F-Gas Regulation (517/2014) controls the use and emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases, and will prevent many of the currently used aerosol dusters from being put on the market after that date.

Aerosol dusters (sometimes known as “canned air”) are ubiquitous manufacturing and test aids, used for cleaning off loose contaminants and blowing away dust from electronics, electrical and other products. They are simple, portable and expedient. Many companies prefer them to compressed air lines, which require installation and continual maintenance to ensure that they are guaranteed free from contaminants like oil and water.

Techspray Vortex 360° Renew Duster from Intertronics is formulated with 100% HFO-1234ze, which has a GWP of 6, compared to many existing products based on HFC-134a having a GWP of 1,300. It is non-flammable, so is safe to use on the shop floor, in the lab, on maintenance calls and around live electronics. It is nontoxic, noncorrosive and safe to use on most surfaces, including plastics. It has zero ozone depletion potential and zero VOCs.

Cleaning efficacy is maintained with a powerful cleaning blast being produced regardless of can orientation. Being moisture and residue free, Vortex 360° Renew Duster is suitable for use on the most sensitive substrates, including optics.
