Magnet Actuated Proximity Sensors

The P3000 Series magnetic proximity sensor is a non-contact, solid state device that is magnetically actuated for a variety of proximity applications. The P3000 Series magnetic proximity sensors are designed to provide tight tolerance magnetic operating points. This ensures reliable and repeatable limit switching in both linear and angular position sensor applications. It has a rugged, thermoplastic housing and is ideally suited for many industrial environments. These products require a permanent magnet target, which offers the customer long range sensing and precise limit switching.

Ferrous Actuated Proximity Sensors

The Series 7000 ferrous proximity sensors are non-contact, solid state devices with a switched output. This device operates effectively to the presence of a ferrous steel or permanent magnet target. A 2mm operating air gap can easily be obtained with a ferrous metal disc target equal to the sensor package diameter. This device uses a Hall Effect sensor with a specialized magnetic circuit that is factory calibrated for optimum performance and consistent repeatability. In addition, electronic hysteresis built into the device eliminates false triggering due to mechanical backlash and vibration. The sensor circuit is encapsulated in a Nickel-plated, Brass housing for use in rugged and wet environments. Its unique design provides a cost-effective solution for a wide range of proximity sensing applications.

Inductive Proximity Sensors

The inductive sensor is a simple enough device at the fundamental level. It is simply a coil of wire with a current passing through it. It completely ignores most objects which pass near this coil. However, when a metallic object passes near it, it acts as a core material in the inductive loop which increases its inductance significantly. Most non-metallic objects have a negligible effect on its inductance. The complex part of the sensor is the sensing circuitry which detects this change in inductance by monitoring the electric current in the loop. When the inductance changes enough, it triggers the sensor's output, which sends a signal to some other machine to do whatever it is it is supposed to do when a metallic object is near the sensor.

Reed Switch Sensors

This family of passive devices offers non-contact, magnetically activated sensing for a variety of proximity applications. These devices can operate effectively in either a head-on or a slide-by mode of operation with sample and inexpensive permanent magnet targets. The activation levels are also very low for effective operation at large air gaps. Except for normally closed style devices, either the North or South polarity can be used to activate these sensors. The switching characteristics of this sensor family change according to the logic table below. The threaded aluminum package allows for service in rugged environments and simplifies mounting where space is at a premium. Integral cable with 24 AWG wire leads add reliability and flexibility to the electrical connection. Optional connectors and lead lengths are available upon request.
