Company Description
Wolfmet is a long-established range of composite materials containing heavy tungsten particles in an alloy binder.
By weight, the material is 90-97% tungsten, so benefits from the unique density and radiation shielding capabilities of tungsten whilst being economically manufacturable. The melting point of the binder (in the range 1350-1450oC) means that conventional powder metallurgical processes can be used to produce the alloy compared to pure tungsten whose melting point is so high that economic fabrication of meaningful components is impossible.
